Why Choose ISD 191 Preschool?

ISD 191 preschool programs believe that children learn best through play and benefit from supportive adult relationships.

We support and nurture the growth of the whole child, including a child’s cognitive, social and emotional, physical and creative development.  There is an emphasis on developing social and emotional competencies through play in the preschool years.  Core areas addressed in daily curriculum include language and literacy, mathematics, science and discovery, dramatic play, the arts and learning with nature.
We are a 4 star Parent Aware preschool program, earning the highest rating possible from Minnesota’s Parent Aware system.  This award ensures that programs meet the highest standards in providing quality early childhood programming and well qualified teachers. Preschool teachers have degrees in early childhood or a related field and assistants have a combination of education and experience with young children.  All staff receive regular professional development in early childhood best practices.
We implement research based curriculum and assessment that matches Minnesota’s early learning standards and supports children in developing the skills needed to be successful in school and in life.
We embed five core components into our early childhood settings:
  • Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher
  • Social emotional development is the foundation for strength and growth
  • Connecting children with nature through outdoor learning is essential
  • Minnesota Early Learning Standards are an important guiding tool
  • Engagement with community partnerships and events is a valuable resource.
