Community Education School for Adults (ABE, ESL, GED)

English Language Classes
Free classes are offered for adults who are not native speakers of English. All levels—mornings, afternoons or evenings. Monday- Thursday 9:30 am-12:15 pm, 1-3:30 pm, or 6-8:45 pm.

Citizenship Classes
Free classes are offered for foreign-born adults who have intermediate English language skills and would like to become U.S. citizens. Classes include application and interview preparation and specific language instruction.

ELL Family Learning Classes
Parents learn English and receive parenting resources and support  with licensed  teachers, while their children (under the age of five)  engage in learning through play  and social interaction with licensed Early Childhood Family Education teachers,  assuring they are  ready for school.
Opportunities to Open the Door to Your Future
 General Educational Development Diploma (GED)
Free preparation for those who wish to take and pass the GED high school diploma tests. The new computerized tests are available now. Students have individualized study plan including on-line learning, to make it easier to study within your busy schedule. Classes are offered Tuesday or Thursday morning, 9:30 am-12:15 pm and/or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evening, 6-8:45 pm. 

On-line Learning/Distance Learning
Combine on-line learning with on-site learning to make the best use of your valuable study time. 

Reading, Writing and Math
Keep up with workplace demands by sharpening your math, reading and writing skills. Our licensed teachers help you increase skills with individualized,small group and on-line instruction. Brush-up and GED students can also learn job search, job retention and career exploration skills. Classes are offered Tuesday or Thursday morning, 9:30 am-12:15 pm and/or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evening, 6-8:45 pm.

Writing Class
Tuesday afternoon 1-2:30 pm. 
Math Skills Class

Thursday afternoon, 1-3:30 pm. 
Accuplacer Preparation
Students work with licensed teachers to improve Accuplacer scores, the test required for all Minnesota Community and technical colleges. 
Educational Assistant Certification Class
Non-native speakers at the Advanced level of English preparation prepare for the PRAXIS ParaPro;, a national certification which enables students to apply for and earn jobs as classroom Educational Assistants in public and private schools all over the nation. We offer two cohorts each year with classes beginning in September and running approximately 12 weeks.
